Mehdi Yazdkhasht is the director of Pishro gam Ghazal Tandis Shoe Company, one of the shoe industry active companies in Qom province. He has worked hard for the growth of the industry and eagerly pursues this profession. News Leather and Shoe Industria magazine has conducted an interview with him, which you will read below.
On his way of entering the shoe industry, Mehdi Yazdkhast, the manager of Tandis shoes, said: “Several relatives and elders of our family worked in the field of shoe and sandal production, and this industry had a history in our family. That’s why I was familiar with this industry, and I decided to work in this field myself. Like all businesses, our work had many ups and downs.
In 1996, due to problems, there was a failure in the work and our efforts went down the drain. However, I did not lose hope and started again. Until 2001, I was working in the material sales section, and after that, by purchasing two machines. I entered the field of slippers production.
In 2005, I added some more machines and launched the factory. The machines that I had bought did not condition the products as I wanted, so I myself went to China from which I imported the machine into Iran. After that, I brought machines to a large number of colleagues in Qom.”
“About four years ago, I went to Tehran and with assisted by some friends, I moved from the field of slippers into the production of shoe soles. And since three years ago we, I accompanied by my brothers, have been working only on soles and shoes.”
Regarding his entry into the field of commerce, he said: since about 17 years ago, I have been doing commercial work, in addition to production. When many factories in Qom started their activities, I equipped them from scratch, or provided them with the necessary molds and supplies.
A Powerful Presence in MATREX
“I have already bought new machines, and I have held a 180-meter place in MATREX exhibition. We intend to be have a powerful presence in the MATREX. In the factory we have installed new machines mother example of which will soon arrive at the custom house, and we will install it in the exhibition, where we produce 300 to 400 sneakers”, He further mentioned.
In a reply to the question of whether your main job is production or trading, Yazdkhast said: “My main job is trading. I am my brothers’ partner. Of course, production is more important, and I pursue this matter with intensity and interest.”
We have not copied anyone’s work in our job, and we own our own style. I have never copied other people’s molds, because I am a mold maker myself and I have become the style owner myself. In the field of soles, we have entered in a specialized way and we have made hard works in two or three pieces. We have made hard molds, and in this field we are among seven to eight people in this field. There are people in Tehran who use our soles, who have something to say in the field of production”, Yazdkhast further explained.
Concluding Statement
In the end, Yazdkhast pointed out: “In the field of sports shoes, those who manufacture sneakers, should leave the traditional method and produce machine work and mechanize it. In the exhibition, they can see the quality of the manufacture done by the machine that we will bring in. A good sole maker will know if it is hand or injection work, as many wholesalers do not know if it is hand or machine work.”
